Another excellent Bill Whittle video to enjoy this 4th. It’s hard for me to celebrate our “independence” when it feels like we’re so … dependent and growing moreso by the day. Trying to explain the holiday to an astute 4 year-old only compounded my mixed feelings in the aftermath of the SCOTUS Obamacare decision.

Did you read the ruling? It was the most twisted logic. It says that for the purposes of the anti injunctive rules the “fee” is not a tax. (One of Obanas lawyers said that SCOTUS couldn’t rule until somebody was actually charged). SCOTUS also said that under the commerce clause, it is unconstitutional to require people to buy health insurance However it is perfectly constitutional to charge a tax for not buying something.
