“They’re really going to wish he were dead now”

So comments Jammie Wearing Fool of NJ Governor Chris Christie after he offered a colorful similie to describe the behavior of unionized teachers:

A day ahead of school budget elections statewide, Gov. Chris Christie today escalated his war of words with the state teachers’ union, accusing union representatives of “using the students like drug mules” to carry information about whether their parents planned to vote.

Christie cited what he called a “mandatory” homework assignment instructing children in one district to interview their parents about whether and why they would vote tomorrow. “These are the typical kind of scare tactics that they involve themselves in,” Christie said about the 200,000-member New Jersey Education Association, which has been critical of his proposed $820 million cut in school aid. “Scaring students in the classroom, scaring parents with the notes home in the bookbags, and the mandatory ‘Project Democracy Homework’ asking your parents about what they’re going to do in the school board election, and reporting back to your teachers union representatives, using the students like drug mules to carry information back to the classroom, is reprehensible.”

Emphasis JWF’s.  All I can say is WOW.  Bring it on, union thug Obami friends, as your days are numbered in New Jersey.  (Who would’ve thunk it, right?) (h/t Pundette.)

I concur with Pundette:  Chris Christie for President.

In, like, 2016. Or 2020, after he’s turned New Jersey around.

He’s smart, funny, and immune to the flak (even when union members are urging their fellows to pray for his death). He understands that 1 + 1 = 2. His wife’s name is Mary Pat. He can’t be as good as he seems (can he?) but if only we had forty-nine more just like him.

OK, cupcakes call.

  2. He might make a good VP choice in 2012. I had not thought of that before.

Forget 2016. I’m counting on taking back the White House in ’12 and make Obama a one termer. I’m not considering any other option. We’ve got to take our best shot coming up.

  3. Kudos for Christie. I thought he was a wishy washy moderate, but he has overwhelmed me.

    • Pundette says 2016, but I don’t know–we might need to draft him for ’12 as long as his Lt Gov is as committed to his budget reforms. He is impressive.

  4. I have another school horror story for your collection. You’ve probably seen it:

Also touched upon is the Christie backlash.

  5. I’m definitely keeping an eye on Christie. So far he seems like the real deal, and if he is, then I’ll happily support his presidential bid in 2016 or so. 😉
