It’s official! We’ll receive half a paycheck midmonth!

Three Areas of an LES You Should Check

Just received a slew of “For Official Use Only” emails detailing the impending shutdown. Looks like we–one among the other 1.4 million active-duty military families scattered across the globe–will receive half a check come payday.

Meanwhile, Harry Reid sheds tears for the Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C. Some poor folks won’t get to stroll the Smithsonian Saturday. Pardon me while I contain myself, Harry. Hope! Change! Screw the military out fighting two wars and one kinetic action over blood money. Great job, Democrats. You didn’t pass a budget when you had control of the House. And now you get to dance with the girl who brung ya.

If you’re a military spouse and anticipate needing help with bills, contact the military relief agencies:

Army Emergency Relief

Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society

Air Force Relief Society

Coast Guard Mutual Assistance

UPDATE: They struck a deal. We’re off the table for the time being.

UPDATE: linked by Adrienne. Thanks!

  1. […] PJMom alerted me several weeks ago to the shutdown threat of suspending active duty miliary paychecks.  Of course, we all know that last week our government gods rulers representatives showed great mercy by averting this disaster.  (Peace and blessings be upon them.) […]

  2. So sorry pjMom. The military and their family get the shaft on all sorts of fronts and this is just one more.

I’m glad to hear you guys have an emergency fund but as you’ve noted, many military families do not.

I hope the clowns in DC can get this resolved soon. Obama is a tool. I wish I could use stronger language…

    • Feel free to use stronger language, Lisa. (Just not in front of the boys!) ; )

Thanks. It was a weird night last night, checking the news. I’m still not convinced we’re out of the woods, but hey, a breather for another week.
