Or, as Pundette says, “We wuz robbed.”

Details via Doug Ross:

Mark Levin was prescient on Saturday, asking: “What if $10 billion of the $38.5 billion actually is from the prior two CRs? And what if another $12 billion of the remaining $28.5 billion actually comes from a change in the budget baseline that would have occurred anyway?”

And that’s precisely what happened.

So the RINOs in the House lied to us. They misplayed their hand and they lied. They cut virtually nothing from the budget that wasn’t already getting cut.

It’s time for new leadership in the House. New, conservative leadership who have as their goal the rescue of this country from the fiscal abyss. If that’s extreme, then I want two hundred more extremists in Congress.

Oddly enough, I was comfortable with the deal when I thought–fool me twice–that the GOP leadership fought for the best possible outcome. And folks approve of the false goods they’ve been sold.

But it was all a shell game? Yes, says Allahpundit:

See this AP piece for the grim details. Quote: “[T]he cuts that actually will make it into law are far tamer, including cuts to earmarks, unspent census money, leftover federal construction funding, and $2.5 billion from the most recent renewal of highway programs that can’t be spent because of restrictions set by other legislation.” Another $4.9 billion comes from a Crime Victims Fund that wasn’t going to be spent this year anyway.

Based on the number of Republicans who voted no and Democrats who voted yes on the short-term funding resolution passed late last week, Boehner’s got something like a 40-vote cushion for Thursday’s House vote on the package. How much of it will be left after this starts making the rounds?

John Boehner, kiss my ass. You’re dead to me. Hear that, RINOs and establishment GOP politicians? I want to defeat the creeping tide of socialist spending that will preserve a future for my kid. I thought you did, too. I wonder if I’m better served building a stick house in Costa Rica on the beach.

UPDATE: Of course! Via Doug Ross, the budget deal trimmed $226 million from the budget by deep-sixing the border fence.

UPDATE: To The Other McCain: you were right.

  1. So well said! What is the matter with these people? Have they completely lost any capacity to understand cause and effect? Are they still engaged in magical thinking that the tech boom is going to start up all over again to make up the difference?

It’s insanity, and it is such because they are letting their “aides” and K Street lobbyists make back room deals instead of the people we elected to stand in our shoes doing this openly on the floor of the house.

BTW, I’ve just added you to my blogroll (had to end on some kind of positive note 🙂 )

    • The decade of magical thinking, heh. I like it! It’s insane to realize how deep in the hole we are and that the freshmen elected on the Tea Party wave aren’t great enough in number (yet) to do what needs to be done. The RINOs have got to go. And that includes Boehner now, too.

      (And thanks!)

  2. Amen sister. Sadly, this budget deal shows us that there will be no fight on the debt ceiling. There will not be strong enough support of Ryan’s budget, maybe even.

We’ve got a lot of work to do.
